While opportunities to hear from the Mayoral candidates abound, three Atlanta neighborhoods have teamed up to present a forum of candidates for Atlanta City Council District 6 this September. Morningside Lenox Park Association (MLPA), Piedmont Heights Civic Association (PHCA), and Virginia-Highland Civic Association (VHCA) are inviting all District 6 neighbors to hear from the two candidates for the seat that Alex Wan currently occupies.
The forum, scheduled for Tuesday, September 19th at 7:00 p.m. will be held in the historic Rock Spring Presbyterian Church at 1824 Piedmont Rd NE. The discussion will be moderated by Tom Baxter, retired AJC Political Editor, contributor to the Saporta Report, and Atlanta District 6 resident.

Baxter will give the candidates an opportunity to make opening statements — he will then pose questions to solicit each candidate’s position on issues important to neighborhoods. Both candidates, Jennifer Ide and Kirk Rich, have committed to attend.

It is important for neighbors to learn how each of the candidates will approach the challenges Atlanta will face over the next few years. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the people who are running to represent our neighborhoods prior to the November election.
